A quiet piece with grand contrasts of tone and an appreciable amount of empty space. The arrangement of the Bartlett pears and keys are deliberate in establishing the specific and symbolic theme I had in mind. I feel I was successful in this painting, especially in the multiple layering of paint on the background wall. It’s a colour that is difficult to describe unless seen in person; A warm blue violet.
