Initially, a few years back, this painting was inspired when Jocelyn and I ventured north to Tobermory, Ontario, and purchased a small hand-blown glass vase by Robert Held Art Glass. It is such a wonderful piece! I purchased it at Golden Gallery Tobermory.
This painting presented a significant challenge, as my typical work doesn't involve such a predominantly dark value. However, I felt that the baby's breath should evoke a sense of celestial elements, akin to a night sky. A similar play of light exists within the vase's intricate layers, a characteristic I aimed to extend throughout the artwork.
My intention was to create a serene and tranquil piece, one that invites contemplation, much like gazing at a clear night sky.
