Initially, a few years back, this painting was inspired when Jocelyn and I ventured north to Tobermory, Ontario, and purchased a small hand-blown glass vase by Robert Held Art Glass. It is such a wonderful piece! I purchased it at Golden Gallery Tobermory.
This was a very challenging painting as I generally do not work within such a dark overall value and yet the element of the baby’s breath I felt needed to play on a feeling of celestial elements in a night sky. A similar character of light also exists within the complex layers of this vase, a characteristic of which I hoped to extend throughout this painting.
My hopes were to create a serene and quiet artwork. A piece to contemplate as one does when looking at a clear night’s sky.
